As a client with an organization license or project license, you will have a SundaHus contact person who will help you to get started with SundaHus Material Data and environmentally conscious material choices. A variety of features provided in the system help you to work systematically. This means that not only can you use the system in the planning phase, but also to streamline the process for environmentally conscious material choices in the implementation stage and you can control and follow-up on the organization’s work.

Do

Since all consultants and contractors are given access to SundaHus Material Data, the work with environmentally conscious material choices is simple and effective. The system's search functions enable all project participants to simply search for the products and ensure they fulfill the property owner’s environmental requirements.

Registering products is quick and the information about the contents of the building is documented down to the substance level. All documentation such as product data sheets, safety data sheets and building product declarations are saved in the building’s logbook.

Check

SundaHus Material Data provides a variety of functions for the project client to easily and effectively control and follow-up the work with environmentally conscious material choices. Foremost, the project manager can continuously follow-up the project and see which and how many products are registered for each discipline. The system provides practical functions for managing requirement deviations and reviewing material choices in the project.

Through continuous project reports, our organization license clients receive quarterly reports with information about current and completed projects, the amount of registered products and the distribution of products containing hazardous substances. The reports are used to set and follow-up on the organization’s environmental goals.

Act

Having a tool to ensure environmentally conscious material choices means it is easier to act and make decisions about products that do not fulfill the project client’s requirements. Through a systemized approach, proven methodology and an effective system, a sound basis for making decisions regarding continued work and revised targets/goals is provided.

SundaHus Assessment

In SundaHus Material Data you can search among thousands of assessed product. The assessments are based on different properties and classified into five classes: A, B, C+, C- and D. Our experienced chemists document the contents of the products and assess them according to the SundaHus Assessment Criteria based on the supplier's documentation.

The SundaHus Assessment Criteria are mainly based on the rules of the European Parliament and Council Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 and the Swedish Chemicals Agency’s priority guide PRIO, as well as the Swedish Chemicals Agency's Classification and Labelling Regulations (KIFS 2005:7).

What do the letters mean?

A

Products that

  1. give minimal health or environmental impacts associated with the PRIO properties defined in the Swedish Chemicals Inspectorate priority guide PRIO (e.g. carcinogenic, toxic to reproduction, endocrine disruptors, allergens etc.)
  2. are not classified as hazardous for health or the environment during the construction phase
  3. do not affect the indoor environment negatively through high emissions of volatile organic compounds
  4. give minimal contribution to smog formation
  5. do not emit excessive levels of formaldehyde ( according to the E1 standard)
  6. provide a minimal strain on natural resources and less to landfill mountains
  7. have a long service life (for selected product groups)
  8. are not likely to contribute to unsustainable forestry
  9. have poor transparency regarding the product contents

B

Products that do not qualify for A and do not match the criteria for C+ and/or C-.

C+

Products for which workers, nearby communities and the environment risk exposure to substances of very high concern used for the manufacture of polymers.

C-

Products that

  1. could lead to an exposure to substances with PRIO properties (e.g. carcinogenic, toxic to reproduction, endocrine disruptors, allergens)
  2. could lead to exposure to substances with other toxic properties
  3. risk affecting the indoor environment negatively through high emissions of volatile organic compounds
  4. contribute to smog formation through emissions of volatile organic compounds with high photochemical ozone creation potentials
  5. contain substances or are produced with substances that at very low emissions can have a big impact on the climate
  6. risk contributing to unsustainable forestry

D

Products with insufficient documentation for an assessment.

Surveillance lists

One feature in SundaHus Material Data is surveillance lists. A surveillance list allows the system to be ”programmed” after the client’s requirements and a specific symbol (e.g. a red hand, a yellow warning triangle or a green flag) is shown in the system next to the concerned product.

For example, we have surveillance lists for different certification systems for buildings such as the Swedish system Miljöbyggnad, BREEAM-SE or Nordic Swan Labelling. We also provide client specific surveillance lists based on the client’s requirements for different projects.
